I wasn’t planning on touching upon Brandon’s motorcycle secret again until the next block of comics simply because I didn’t think we’d have time to cover all the beats before #500′s new direction. We still don’t, but as things are thematically wrapping up until the next “Season” of comics, I felt like it’d be nice to bring one thread back up to leave it dangle again. Brandon discussed it earlier in this set, and this story hasn’t had a really close eye on it since #250, so why not?

I figured at some point I’d need to address, or at least acknowledge, some of the weird things Leigh was doing at work (like building entire bookcases by hand on her shifts), hence the little aside there. I wish I had a link handy to show you some instances of this but if you’re truly interested (and I’m sure you are), a little archive digging never hurt anyone.

As mentioned in the previous strip’s blogpost – Facebrooks is winding down a tad in it’s march to the 500th strip. While arc-wise it’s still going to be in a bit of a messy jumble, I’d hope that with these next 20 comics, Facebrooks will finish out it’s first 500 on a good emotional beat. What you’re reading right now is one of the segments of that.

N & C has been a bit of a background fixture in my story so far, spurred off by a running joke in high school that ended up in some of my very first autobio comics which then bled into what you’re reading now. But things change. And since 2009 was such a crazy time for the economy anyway, I’m making an effort to phase the joke out for the next gag to come in. But I gotta do it my way. Slowly. And actually taking it seriously. How will a place like Schaumburg, so entrenched in N & C business sense, be effected by such a shift? That’s something I’ll be messing around with in the coming comics.
