Facebrooks SU 1 / A Tyler Comic
Welcome to the first strip of Facebrooks: Status Updates. Here’s an incredibly long, confusing explanation about this series:
It’s taken a long, long time to get this thing actually on the internet. I wanted these things up in January of this year, and here it is in JUNE! Luckily we’re back on track and I can pretend that I’ve updated in January by setting WordPress up to say it did. That’s the magic of technology!
Anyway, this is a fun little side-salad-series that I do on the side to color in some of the areas I don’t have time to/room for in the regular series. Like anything I do, these can’t just be simple little things, even though they appear to be. So I’ve written a handy little guide to help new readers out:
The Handy Reading Guide!:
This series is meant to be a companion piece for the main ‘Facebrooks’ series, showcasing friends and side-characters in their very own stories and one-off gag strips, while also updating with strips about Brooks or stories involving him that didn’t really fit into the updating schedule of the main series. Knowing any backstory involving the majority of these strips is optional (unlike the main set which is kind of up it’s own asshole in terms of continuity) and can just be enjoyed as stand-alone comics. Most of these babies are based in 100% factual bits of things my friends have asked me to make into comics or memorable bits I wanted to cement in the series from my life. Occasionally you’ll get something a tad more goofy than what you’re used to from my main stuff, but it all fits in some way.
As if things can’t get more convoluted or complicated, here’s a handy explanation on how to read these:
- If they’re numbered regularly, the strips can fit in anywhere within the continuity of the regular series, give or take. Just use yer head. Example: if Brooks is living with Brandon in one, that one would fit in earlier than one with Brooks living with Norah, as it goes in Facebrooks.
- If they’re ‘double numbered’ then that means they fit in somewhere ultra-specific into the main series. The top number will tell you where it fits within Facebrooks, while the bottom is the number for the Status Updates collection.
Hope that helps! If it didn’t… ignore it. It’s not important! Pretend I didn’t even write it, even!
Anyway, this series is supposed to regularly update every Monday and Friday alongside the regular series’s daily updates. But it was always my intention to start off the first two ‘weeks’ of this series with back-to-back Monday-thru-Friday updates. Which means you guys’ll be getting 10 strips in short succession at the beginning of this whole thing to kick off Status Updates! Crazy, eh? Afterwards, we’ll go back to Monday and Friday updates for the foreseeable future.
